Hello from me and the characters!

I’m Gabi Almeida, the artist behind Mini Gabi World — a surreal, universe that blends art, music, animation, comics, and character design.

I create characters that move between art and entertainment in a style I call Toy Punk Realism.

My work invites more nuanced conversations around “and” instead of “either/or,” drawing inspiration from diverse cultures, styles, and industries.

Mini Gabi World is also growing as an original IP, built to expand across formats.

The Creator's Story

My journey into the arts started on the streets of London, mostly irritating commuters, but eventually led me to stages across the globe as a session musician, playing at prestigious venues like the Royal Albert Hall and appearing on shows like BBC and Jools Holland.

In 2014, a head injury put a stop to touring. While recovering, I created my first character, Mini Gabi, to front my band and take my place on tour. What started as a few pencil sketches of one quirky character soon grew into a vibrant multimedia wonderland.

My passion for music took a creative turn, leading me into the worlds of animation, character design, paintings, and video direction. I can’t say I’m glad the injury happened, but I am glad it led me here. It taught me to embrace the unexpected and turn challenges into creativity.

Mini Gabi World has since become an ever-evolving universe where characters tackle challenges, spark conversations, and celebrate their quirks. Each collection and project feels like a new episode in this world, blending humour, storytelling, and art.

I’ve showcased my work in exhibitions, immersive experiences, and live shows, including projection mapping animations at Electric Medway and Fort Amherst, as well as a public speaker appearance and video screening at KartsCon 2024.

Now, in 2025, my focus is to expand Mini Gabi World, letting my characters’ voices and stories grow louder while continuing to experiment with new mediums and ideas.

Let’s connect! Whether you’re interested in collaborations, exhibitions, or just want to chat about art, music, and storytelling, feel free to reach out!
