The Electric Medway Festival is known for celebrating creativity and innovation, and this year, I had the honor of contributing to its vibrant lineup with Mini Gabi World in Chatham House, an animated mural immersive experience inspired by nature and the environment. 🌿✨
Meet The Insect Girls
In this clip from the show, you’ll meet The Insect Girls—a group of half-human, half-insect characters brought to life through animation and projection mapping. Each character is inspired by the essential role insects play in maintaining biodiversity and supporting ecosystems:
Bamba the Bumble Bee 🐝 – A buzzing symbol of pollination and growth.
Cricketa the Cricket Girl 🐜 – Graceful and resilient, embodying the sounds of nature.
Dotty the Ladybird 🐞 – A charming protector of balance in the ecosystem.
Arana the Spider 🕷️ – Not technically an insect, but she’s joined their group as an honorary member!
Ruby the Red Dragonfly 🐲 – Agile and vibrant, reflecting the fleeting beauty of nature.
Through their stories and playful personalities, The Insect Girls aim to inspire viewers to reconnect with nature and recognize the importance of even the smallest creatures in our world.
Creating the Immersive Experience
Set against the historic backdrop of Chatham House, the animated mural transforms the space into a secret garden where these characters come alive. Projection mapping technology allows the visuals to interact with the architecture, making the experience immersive and magical.
This project is not just about animation; it’s about sparking conversations around environmental sustainability and showing how art can bridge the gap between creativity and ecological awareness.
Let’s continue to celebrate creativity, connect with nature, and foster meaningful change through art.
